We are a multi-trade and environmental grounds contractor who specialise in maintenance, repairs, refurbishments, grounds & landscaping services. We work with the education sector, individual schools, social housing, public buildings, healthcare and commercial clients throughout West Yorkshire.
Our clients include Kirklees Council in the following areas: housing, education, public buildings, disabled adaptations, damp remedials. As well as Kirklees schools, Almshouses authorities, Salvation Army, NHS, WYFR, OE Electrics and other commercial clients.
We pride ourselves on carrying out works correctly and efficiently along with providing as much feedback for our clients as we can. We are fully SMAS SSIP health and safety compliant as well as holding quality assurance constructionline gold status for our professional standards. As well as the full range of multi-trade works, our grounds maintenance services also include grass cutting, tree care, horticultural grounds services, full landscaping as well as educational play for all of our above clients. Meet The Team:
Joel – Director
Starting as an apprentice joiner, Joel has progressed through various roles throughout his career. Before leaving to New Zealand to work in construction, Joel was a contract manager for social housing dealing with multi-million pound contract for local authorities.
Upon returning to the UK, Joel decided to set-up his own business working for blue chip clients on projects from small works to large extension contracts for new builds.
Suzanne – Director
Founded Geckops alongside Joel in 2006 and now works day to day in the business sorting through quotes, accounts and many other things to ensure the business operates efficiently.
Michael – Construction Manager
Michael has over 37 years of construction experience working in social housing. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Geckops team.
Qualifications: highly qualified in multiple trades.
Jane – Bookkeeper
Jane manages all the day to day account activities from bank reconciliation, processing CIS returns, preparing accounts and much more to ensure the business operates efficiently.
Qualifications: AAT qualified
Nick – Environmental Services
Responsible for Geckop’s Environmental Services, Nick brings experts skills from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in different sectors including environmental, management, mechanics and more.
Qualifications: highly qualified in multiple trades.
Paul – Mason
An expert in new builds and extensions Paul works closely with all Geckops contracts including, schools, local authorities and fire services. Paul understands the importance of ensuring a high quality finish when delivering all our project.
Qualification: City Guild trained, Site management qualifications
Rob – Mason
Rob is a professional grounds work specialist with a wealth of knowledge and skills in machinery and roofing repairs. As part of the masonry team Rob advises the team and customers on best working practices and delivers the highest standard of workmanship.
Qualification: skilled ground works, machinery qualifications
Caleb – Trainee Architect
We are proud to retain Caleb whilst he is away from the Geckops team studying Architecture at Huddersfield University.
Caleb is also qualified in level 3 Bricklaying and Masonry course, includes health and safety and management.
Qualifications: Currently studying Architecture at Huddersfield, Level 3 Bricklaying & Masonry
Alex – Mason
Alex is a qualified level 2 Bricklayer and Mason. The qualification includes health and safety and management and means that he is a fully qualified member of the geckops. He has learnt valuable trade skills working within the teams.

Mark – Environmental Operative
Mark is one of our environmental operatives, passionate about gardening with years of experience in commercial, retail, domestic and social ground maintenance.
Brian – Remedial engineer
Brian is our remedial engineer and has a vast knowledge of joinery, plumbing related skills following many years within various sectors of the construction industry.
Roger – Plasterer
Roger is a fully qualified plasterer with over 37 years’ experience on working within the construction, social and residentials sectors, his skills also enable us to complete ongoing damp remedial works for all our clients.
Ashley – Mason
Ashley is a fully qualified level 2 bricklayer, he has lots of local experience in carrying out brickwork, pointing, flagging and building projects and he continues to grow his skills
Nathan – Apprentice Joiner
Qualifications: currently at Huddersfield Building College
Aiden – Apprentice bricklayer

Peter – Skilled Labourer
Peter has a wealth of knowledge and experience he brings to the team. He is a multi-skilled labourer with expertise in gardening and more.
